In 1915 The Turkish Government started the mass deportation of the Armenians that were living within Turkey, for reasons that were said to have brought concerns to Turkish national security. This is oftenthe case with ethnic and religious minorities, like the Armenian Christians living in the Ottoman Empire. The Armenian Christians had experienced violent acts like this before but none to the magnitude of this genocide in 1915. In the Armenian Genocide there are estimates any where from 600,000-1.5 million people were executed.
