The Cost

One and a half million Armenians were killed, out of a total of two and a half million Armenians in the Ottoman Empire. First the Armenians in the army were disarmed, placed into labor camps, and then killed. After the army was out of the way the Ottomans found and captured all the Armenian political leaders and they were executed. After all those people were disposed of they went after the everyday people like you and me. They told these people that they were just being moved out of town into different parts of the country. Instead of moving them to a home like what they had the took those people and put them into the labor camps with the army. On the march to these camps the guards would beat these people and sometimes they would even kill them. Also on the march to camp the Armenians were denied food and water. So on the trip most people died of hunger and thirst and never made it to the camps. Also the Ottomans would put large amounts of Armenians on ships and send them out to sea and have target practice with the ships and often time they would sink the ship. The Armenian Genocide was a historical time that eliminated a group of people from their homes and wiped out most of their culture including their way of living and religion.
